World Naked Gardening Day (WNGD) takes place every year on the first Saturday of May. This year, it lands on Saturday 3rd May 2025. It’s a global clothes-free event that encourages people to garden while nude – whether you have a garden, a balcony, or just a few plants on your windowsill.

You don’t need to be a naturist, nudist, or part of any movement. You just need to be willing to experience being nude outdoors in a simple, everyday way.

🪴 When It Started

World Naked Gardening Day was founded in 2005 by Mark Storey and Jacob Gabriel as a grassroots way to challenge the stigma around non-sexual nudity. It quickly spread through online communities and word of mouth. Two decades on, it’s now observed in dozens of countries – from back gardens to community allotments.

WNGD isn’t about performance or attention. It’s about normalising the nude body in everyday life and reclaiming space for people to exist without clothing – without shame.

• Because the human body doesn’t need to be hidden to be acceptable

• Because being nude in nature is peaceful, grounding, and honest

• Because clothing-optional living is a valid choice, not a spectacle

• Because the nature doesn’t care what you're wearing

• Choose a space where you feel safe and undisturbed

• Wear sun protection and footwear if needed

• Keep it non-sexual, non-performative, and respectful

• Share your photos or stories to help normalise non-sexual nudity and clothing-optional activities
